Dumpster Rental FAQs
Dumpster Rental FAQs
What areas do you provide dumpster rental services to?
We offer prompt and affordable dumpster rental delivery throughout Central Wisconsin.
Our primary service areas include Wausau, Antigo, Rhinelander, Merrill, and Stevens Point. If you are located in a surrounding community and need a roll-off container, give our local office a call!
What items can and CANNOT be disposed of in a roll-off dumpster?
Most household junk, construction debris, and demolition materials are perfectly acceptable. We provide a clear rental agreement with every delivery that outlines exactly what is allowed.
While we can take almost anything, we categorize items into these groups:
Standard Debris: General household items, furniture, and construction materials are included in your base rate.
Special Items (Additional Fees): Items like tires, batteries, appliances, and electronics require specialized handling and have an additional fee associated with them.
Restricted Materials: Heavy fill (concrete, dirt, brick) and metal require a quick phone call to us at 715-216-4012 before loading so we can provide a specialized solution.
Strictly Prohibited: We cannot accept liquids or hazardous materials. View Wisconsin DNR definitions here.
Unsure about an item? Just give us a call! We’re happy to go over pricing and handling to make sure your cleanup goes smoothly.
Trash truck fires are a real hazard, read our article: Why You Should Never Throw Batteries in the Trash.
How long can I keep my dumpster rental?
A standard dumpster rental is a 7 day period. However, we pride ourselves on being flexible to fit your schedule so, if you need a dumpster for longer than 7 days, just let us know. We offer various rental periods to ensure you have enough time to finish your project.
Because we are family owned and operated, we can work closely with you to arrange a drop-off and pick-up time that is most convenient for your project.
How do I know what size dumpster I need for my project?
From small home renovations to major commercial hauls, our team is happy to help you select the most cost-effective dumpster size option.
Simply contact our team, tell us a little about your project, and we can recommend the perfect fit based on your specific needs.
We also provided a few common examples under each dumpster size listed earlier on this page. We offer 15-yard dumpster, 20-yard dumpster, and 30-yard dumpsters for Wausau, Antigo, and greater Central Wisconsin.
How fast can I get a dumpster or have it switched out?
Scheduling is based on current availability, but because we operate several trucks and have a dedicated team of drivers, we can mobilize very quickly. If the size you need is in the yard, we often only need a few hours to get it delivered to your site.
While we recommend calling a day or two in advance to guarantee your spot, we take pride in our ability to handle “dumpster emergencies” for our clients.
If you’re in need of a dumpster switch-out we often do this same day and can even do live-loads. Scheduling a switch-out the day prior to your need is no problem for us.
Do I need to be there for dumpster delivery or pickup?
No, you do not need to be present for either. As long as we have clear placement instructions, our drivers can handle the rest.
For a smooth delivery and pickup, please ensure:
Clear Access: The area must be free of vehicles, trailers, or other obstructions.
No Hazards: Check for low-hanging power lines or tree branches that might block the truck’s hoist.
Payment: Payment is due upon or before delivery.
Pickup Ready: On your scheduled pickup date, our driver will simply show up, secure the load, and go.
Pro-Tip: If you have a specific spot in mind, feel free to mark the area with a cone or a piece of plywood so our driver knows exactly where to set it down!
Can the dumpster be placed in my yard or on the street?
Yard Placement: Yes, we can place a dumpster in your yard. However, because of the weight of the equipment and the potential for ground soft spots, someone must be present at the time of delivery to sign a property damage waiver. Please note that final placement is always at the driver’s discretion; we will not position the dumpster anywhere that could risk damage to our equipment or compromise a safe operation.
Street Placement: Yes, street placement is an option, but it requires a bit of homework on your part. You must call your local City Hall or municipality first to ask for permission. While street placement is rarely an issue, any fines resulting from placing a dumpster on the street are the responsibility of the homeowner. Checking with your local officials first is the best way to ensure a smooth project.
Are there extra fees on top of the dumpster rental price?
At All American, we believe in honest, upfront pricing. Unlike many other companies, we do not charge extra for delivery, pickup, fuel surcharges, or environmental fees.
The only additional costs you might see are:
Credit Card Processing: A 3.5% fee is applied to all card transactions. (Payments made via cash do not incur this fee).
Saturday Service: Standard delivery and pickup from Monday through Friday are included in your rental price. If you specifically request a Saturday delivery or pickup, an additional fee will apply, which varies based on your location.
Special Items: As noted in our agreement, certain items like tires, electronics, or appliances have individual disposal fees, and overfilling the dumpster will result in a fee.

What do I do if my trash or recycling was missed?
If you believe your service was missed, please call our office immediately. We utilize advanced routing software and integrated cameras on every truck, which allows us to accurately “get to the bottom” of any service interruption.
When calling, please keep in mind that while your pickup day remains consistent, your pickup time can vary daily due to shifting routes, traffic, or Wisconsin weather conditions. To ensure service, please have your bins out by 6:00am on your scheduled day. (Best practice is to put them out the night before!) Our onboard cameras also help us identify if a bin was blocked by a vehicle or if it was packed so tightly that the material couldn’t physically fall out during the dump cycle. If we truly missed you, we will use our data to find a solution right away.
How much does your residential trash and recycling service cost?
Our rates are determined by your specific service address. From Antigo and Aniwa to Lily and Deerbrook, pricing is tailored to ensure you get the best local rate possible within our service area.
To get an exact price for your home, please fill out our convenient online form for a free, no-obligation quote, or give us a call now to speak with a member of our local team!
How much will fit in a 96 gallon bin?
Our standard 96-gallon residential carts are designed to handle a week’s worth of waste for a typical household of 4 to 6 people. To give you a better idea of the volume, a 96-gallon bin can hold:
7 to 8 tall kitchen bags (13-gallon size)

What items are NOT allowed in the recycling bin?
Link to official Wisconsin DNR recycling guidelines.
Plastic Bags: No grocery bags, bubble wrap, or plastic stretch wrap (these tangle in sorting machines).
“Tanglers”: No garden hoses, holiday lights, ropes, or electrical cords.
Food-Soiled Items: No greasy pizza boxes, used paper plates, or unrinsed food jars.
Specific Glass: No window glass, mirrors, ceramics, drinking glasses, or Pyrex.
Foam Packaging: No Styrofoam cups, egg cartons, or packing peanuts.
Paper Contaminants: No tissue paper, paper towels, napkins, or waxed cardboard.
Batteries & Electronics: No rechargeable batteries or anything with a cord/circuit board (these are major fire hazards).
Hazardous Containers: No motor oil bottles or containers that held pesticides or chemicals.
Medical Waste: No needles or sharps (even if they are in a plastic jug).
Pro-Tips for Recycling Success:
Keep it Loose: Never bag your recyclables. Empty them directly into the bin so the sorting team can see them.
The “3-Inch Rule”: Many facilities cannot process items smaller than 3 inches (like loose plastic bottle caps). It is best to screw caps back onto the rinsed bottles.
When in Doubt, Throw it Out: Putting the wrong items in the bin can contaminate an entire truckload of good recycling, turning it all into trash.
What items are NOT allowed in trash cans?
- Hazardous Waste: Paints (oil-based), solvents, pesticides, antifreeze, motor oil, pool chemicals, fuels, mercury (from thermostats/bulbs).
- Electronics (E-Waste): TVs, computers, monitors, cell phones, microwaves.
- Batteries: Rechargeable, car, and lithium batteries.
- Medical Waste: Needles, syringes, lancets (must be in approved sharps containers).
- Appliances: Refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners (contain refrigerants/hazardous parts).
- Tires: Car and truck tires.
- Yard Waste: Grass clippings, leaves, branches.
- Construction/Demolition Debris: Concrete, bricks, asphalt, shingles.
- Ammunition/Explosives.
Trash truck fires are a real hazard, read our article: Why You Should Never Throw Batteries in the Trash.
What is the holiday schedule for trash and recycling pickup?
As a local, family-owned company, we observe 6 holidays to allow our team to spend time with their families.
Typically, if your pickup day falls on a holiday, service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week. Download your area’s specific schedule by clicking here or follow us on social media for real-time updates in Antigo and surrounding areas.
How should I place my bins for the automated claw to reach them?
To ensure a seamless pickup, place your trash and recycling carts at the curb with the wheels facing your house and at least 3 feet of clearance from the other bin, mailboxes, trees, or parked cars.
This gives our automated claw enough space to safely grip and lift the containers without any obstructions. This increased efficiency helps us keep your rates low. Learn more.
How does the automated split-body truck service work?
Our automated split-body trucks use a robotic arm to lift your bins, meaning faster and cleaner service for your neighborhood and enhanced safety for our drivers.
These trucks feature two separate internal compartments that allow us to collect your trash and recycling in one stop while keeping them 100% separated for processing. Learn more.
How can I dispose of a battery, mattress, large appliance, tires, or old electronics?
Disposing of “specialty” items like these requires specific handling to meet environmental and safety regulations. If you have any of these items—including household electronics, old tires, mattresses, or large appliances—please call us directly.
We will help you determine the best disposal method for these items, as they typically carry individual disposal fees separate from your standard dumpster rental.
Can I pause my trash and recycling service when I'm not home?
Yes, we do offer the option to pause your service, but we ask that these be handled seasonally. To qualify for a service pause, the pause must be for a duration of at least one full quarter (three months) of the year.
This option is perfect for our snowbirds or anyone planning an extended time away from their property. Simply contact our office in advance to schedule your seasonal pause, and we will handle the routing adjustments for you.
Commercial Trash FAQs
Commercial Trash FAQs
What areas do you serve for commercial trash pickup?
We provide a growing number of commercial routes throughout Central Wisconsin, including Antigo, Wausau, Birnamwood, Merrill and beyond. If you are a business owner in the areas looking for a local, family-owned alternative to the “big box” waste companies, give us a call!
Can I change my pickup frequency if my business gets busier?
Yes. We pride ourselves on being flexible for our local business partners. Whether you need a temporary switch from bi-weekly to weekly during your peak season or an extra “as-needed” haul after a big event, our team is just a phone call away.
What is "commingled recycling" and how does it benefit my business?
Commingled recycling (or single-stream) allows you to place all recyclable materials—including cardboard, glass, and plastic—into a single dumpster. This saves your employees time on sorting and reduces the number of bins taking up space behind your building.
Do you offer dumpsters for farm operations?
Yes! We specifically designed our services to support Antigo’s agricultural community. From farm shops to large-scale operations, we provide rugged 2 to 6-cubic-yard dumpsters that can handle the demands of a working farm.
Please note, we do not currently offer metal scrap pickup services.
Do you offer waste removal services for community events?
Yes! We provide reliable trash and recycling solutions for events across our service area including Marathon and Langlade Counties. From county fairs to youth sports tournaments and community events, we have the capacity to handle high volumes of waste efficiently.
Since every event has different requirements for bin placement and pickup timing, we provide custom quotes for these services. Please reach out with your event dates and estimated attendance, and we will submit a formal bid for your committee or organization to review.
We love supporting the local events that bring our neighbors together!

Dumpster Bag FAQs
Dumpster Bag FAQs
What size is a dumpster bag and what will fit in it?
Our bags measure 8′ long x 4′ wide x 2.5′ tall. To give you a mental picture, that is roughly the size of a long pickup truck bed. You can fill it with almost anything—from household junk to construction debris, as long as the contents remain level with the top so the handles can still meet in the middle for a safe pickup.
What can be put in the dumpster bag?
Our 4-yard bags are designed for most standard cleanup projects, including household junk and construction debris. While we accept a wide variety of items, some require additional handling fees.
Items Included in the Flat Fee:
Household Garbage: General clutter, furniture, clothes, and toys.
Construction & Demolition: Drywall, wood, flooring, and siding.
Items Accepted for an Additional Fee: Due to specialized recycling requirements, the following items can be taken for an added charge:
Electronics: Computers, monitors, TVs, and printers.
Appliances: Microwaves, small refrigerators, or stoves.
- Tires.
Strictly Prohibited Items: For safety and environmental reasons, we cannot accept hazardous materials, including:
Liquids (Paint, chemicals, or motor oil).
Batteries.
Propane tanks.
If you aren’t sure about a specific item, give our office a call. We’ll go over your list with you so there are no surprises on your final bill!
How heavy can the dumpster bag be?
Our bags have a 2,000 lb weight limit, though most standard household cleanups only reach about 600–800 lbs. To ensure a safe pickup, items should be level with the top of the bag so the straps can meet in the middle. If you are disposing of heavy materials like dirt, concrete, or roofing shingles, please call us first! We can guide you on exactly how full to fill it so it stays within our truck’s lifting capacity.
How do you pick up the full dumpster bag?
Our pickup is a simple, mechanical process. We utilize a crane-equipped truck that lifts the bag from above and places it into our transport container. To make this work, we just need enough room to back our truck up to the bag. Please ensure there are no low-hanging power lines or tree branches directly above the bag that might interfere with the crane’s reach.
How long can I keep the dumpster bag?
There is no rental time limit on our bags! Whether your project takes a weekend or several months, you can keep the bag as long as you need with no daily fees.
When you’re finished, just give our office a call, and we’ll add you to our collection schedule. You don’t even need to be home for the pickup, just ensure our truck has a clear, accessible path to back up to the bag. Give us a call when you are ready for pickup and we will get the collection in our schedule.
